Christian Education It’s officially Fall and life has shifted back into high(er) gear (if that’s possible!). Members of Christian Education got together on Sept 28th and the ideas started flying. During October, we hope to start auditions & practice for the Sunday school Christmas pageant (to be held at the 11AM service on Dec 17th). We have gotten offers for help already! If you are interested, please don’t hesitate to call Leslie Thompson.
A lot of research has begun on retreats for kid and adults (both together and separately). We may be able to roll something out next Spring! Stay tuned. If you have any thoughts or want to share some past experiences, please don’t hesitate. Any one of us in Christian Ed would be glad to speak with you.
Pastor Terry is going to provide us with information on possible parenting classes and workshops and seminars for all. Susie is checking into attending/starting an ESL (English as a Second Language) class and Leslie is interested in joining her.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Nov 16th. By the way, did you know that 5 of the 9 members of Christian Education are teachers? Yup, Susie Herzberg, Donna Vander Wende, Susan Montone, Susi Fecht-Poliseo, and Gritli Fecht-Sette. Susi has her Masters in Education-Technology/Curriculum and is in her 8th year as a computer applications teacher at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ. Gritli is a certified English teacher and has taught middle & high school as well as Harvard MBAs. The ‘Fecht sisters ‘ have both taught Sunday school and served in different ways at VBS. Susi would love to investigate using computer on-line technology in our educational efforts. Gritli feels that “our children need the knowledge, skills and attitude to BE and STAY Christian in their young lives and beyond. She also feels we adults need the same at a more Christian level, with emphasis on being ambassadors of Christ”.
Don’t you marvel at how God assembles just who we need with just the right skills in our Body of Christ! We are blessed
YFIChrist,
Leslie Thompson
